Steben Select Multi-Strategy Fund (Select Fund)

Fund Performance

In February, the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank affirmed they would be flexible and could adopt a less hawkish monetary policy stance in the near term as a result of softness in economic data. This led to a rally in global equity indices despite slowing GDP growth. US and German bond yields were choppy, ending the month slightly higher, while the US Dollar gained against most developed market currencies. In commodities, oil prices rose on global supply cuts, while agricultural commodities trended lower.

The Fund made gains in all of its underlying strategies in February. The largest contribution came from the Fund’s multi-strategy manager, which had strong profits in systematic commodities trading. The month saw a rally in global equity indices and credit indices, benefitting equity long/short and fixed income relative value managers. Equity market neutral managers made gains through alternative data set models and ETF arbitrage.
